Many food businesses spend on attracting new customers while their regulars quietly drift away. Winning back someone who already knows your food is usually easier than convincing a stranger.
1. Capture the basics at billing
Keep it short: name, mobile number and one occasion such as a birthday. A small instant discount in return for the occasion is a fair exchange and fills your list quickly.
2. Know who has gone quiet
Group customers by their last visit — for example, 60 to 180 days ago. These are people who liked you enough to come, but have not been back. They are your best audience.
3. Send fewer, better messages
- Write to a chosen group, not your whole list.
- Make one clear offer with a clear end date.
- Only message people who have agreed to hear from you, and always include a way to opt out.
4. Count who came back
After every offer, check how many people in the group made a purchase. This tells you whether the offer was worth it, and which kind of offer to repeat.
